Luxury Houses on the Beach of Brazilian Paradise in Trancoso

Trancoso is a district in the municipality of Porto Seguro in the state of Bahia, Brazil.

The village was founded at the beginning of Portuguese colonization by Jesuit Priests in 1583.


#Quadrado is the main square, which is surrounded by colorful houses and a white little historical church overseeing the #AtlanticOcean. The Quadrado, colorful houses and Church are UNESCO protected.

The village was once a small fishing village. In recent years, many foreigners have purchased houses, restaurants and stores. Nowadays, each little colorful houses cost millions of dollars. So how this small village became a popular destination ? Until 90`s #Trancoso remained a small village, after 90`s #European Hippies started to arrive to this unique place and they enjoy this Brazilian Paradise. They turned this place into a better way for the people who live there appreciate it, too.

In 1999, a new highway linking the region to the airport in Porto Seguro was builded. Afterwards in 2003, a #ClubMed ( it`s knows as Club Méditerranée SA ) opened 10 minutes from the center of town. Then, the private Terravista Airport was opened, which allows small planes and private helicopters to get there easily for the billionaires from São Paulo in around 2h. It seems like Everybody has a #helicopter in São Paulo. (#SãoPaulo has the world's biggest helicopter fleet. Many businessman flies over São Paulo to skip the traffic jams.)

In early 2009, Wilbert Das, the former creative director at Diesel, opened Uxua Casa Hotel .

Since then, the things have started to change. Trancoso still looks like the hippie getaway, but every little small house worths millions of dollars. You can`t really imagine this little village is welcoming many rich people here.. Many rich #Paulistanos from SP or many famous people like Beyonce, Anderson Cooper has a villa there. And then #NaomiCampbell, #GiseleBündchen rents regularly houses to spend the #summer up the beach...

How to get there

The nearest commercial airport is in #PortoSeguro. The flights takes about an hour from São Paulo. Afterwards, need to rent a car for 1h drive or another way by #Uber or Taxi.
